Lucknow: As part of the ongoing Mission Shakti 5.0 campaign, the Lucknow Police organized a public awareness programme in the Sarojininagar area to promote women’s safety, cyber security awareness, and empowerment. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Lucknow Police Commissioner Amrendra Kumar Sengar and aimed at educating women and children about their rights, safety measures, and available support services.
The awareness drive was held at the CRPF Tiraha area of Sarojininagar, where police personnel interacted directly with local women and children, distributed informational pamphlets, and encouraged them to become self-reliant and aware of government welfare schemes.
Focus on Women’s Safety and Cyber Awareness
During the programme, police officials informed participants about various women-centric safety initiatives, Mission Shakti schemes, and ways to protect themselves from cyber crimes. Special emphasis was placed on educating women about recognizing online fraud, digital safety practices, and seeking timely assistance in case of emergencies.
The campaign was conducted under the theme “Cyber Security Begins with Knowing the Right Helpline Numbers.”
Participants were provided detailed information about important emergency and support helpline numbers, including:
- 1090 – Women Power Line
- 112 – Emergency Response Service
- 181 – Women Helpline
- 1098 – Child Helpline
Police officials explained how these services can be accessed during emergencies and encouraged women to report incidents without hesitation.
Mission Shakti Centres Operational Across Lucknow
Officials highlighted that under Mission Shakti 5.0, dedicated Mission Shakti Centres have been established in all 54 police stations across the Lucknow Commissionerate. Each centre is staffed with designated officers, including inspectors, additional inspectors, sub-inspectors, and women sub-inspectors, to ensure prompt resolution of issues brought forward by women.
The initiative seeks to strengthen women’s confidence in law enforcement and provide a responsive support system for their safety and welfare.

Direct Community Engagement
The awareness programme was led by Women Sub-Inspector Sadhana Sharma, Women Sub-Inspector Pooja Yadav, Women Constable Sunita Yadav, and Women Constable Savita from Sarojininagar Police Station.
The police team conducted field visits in the CRPF Tiraha area and interacted with approximately 20 to 30 women and children. Through direct dialogue, participants were informed about legal protections available against offences such as sexual harassment, domestic violence, dowry-related crimes, and other forms of exploitation.
Encouraging Self-Reliance and Empowerment
Officials emphasized that Mission Shakti 5.0 is not merely a government programme but a comprehensive movement aimed at ensuring women’s safety, education, dignity, and economic empowerment.
The campaign also highlighted various state and central government schemes designed to support women’s welfare and self-reliance. Participants were encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities and actively contribute to building a safer and more empowered society.
Strengthening Trust Between Police and Citizens
Police officials said that such outreach programmes help establish direct communication between law enforcement agencies and the public, particularly women, while fostering awareness and confidence regarding available support mechanisms.
The programme concluded with an appeal to citizens to remain vigilant against cyber threats, make use of emergency helplines whenever necessary, and work collectively toward creating a safer environment for women and children.
Mission Shakti 5.0 continues to serve as a key initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government, focusing on women’s security, empowerment, and access to justice through sustained awareness and community engagement activities across the state.
